Frequently Asked Questions

UN-Plasticized Poly Vinyl Chloride is obtained from polymerisation process of Vinyl Chloride – which is inturn obtained from mixing Ethylene with Sodium Chloride (57%- Common Salt).

uPVC is ideal for Indian Climate which is near tropic and has a high demand for energy conservation. uPVC windows help in controlling the heat coming into the building / home by acting as a insulator. Buearu of Energy Efficiency is working towards Star Rating of windows based on the insulation properties of windows and uPVC windows are a ideal choice as they can offer U value as low as 0.6 W/m2K for high performance casement windows and 2.4 W/m2K for normal Sliding Windows which is much lower than other type of windows (wood, aluminium, steel, etc).

No. Good Quality UPVC profiles are produced from Tropical Blends which have adequate percentage of TiO2 – Titanium Di Oxide which imparts white colour to the profile along with UV / Heat stabilisers which protects the profile from harmful UV Radiation.

Most companies offer detailed test reports on artificial weathering test conducted on the profile. UWDMA advocates that the profiles be tested for 8000 hours with 7.2GJ Xenon light exposure. Colour variation and impact strength is checked before and after exposure. (please refer to draft standards of UWDMA standards of uPVC Profiles)

  • The frame and sash material is uPVC which is a non-conductor. It cuts the heat.
  • Frame and sash are multi chamber. It cuts further heat
  • Tight gasket sealing. This helps in preventing leakage through the gap between frame and shutter.
  • Multi-point locking. This ensures that the shutter and frame are locked and sealed properly.
Steel provides the necessaryTensile strength to UPVC profile to prevent deflection / deformation against external forces.

Yes UPVC is recyclable. However scrap is not used in profile extrusion to avoid impurities in the main profiles. Recycled PVC profiles are used in auxiliary profiles which are not exposed or add strength to a window. Some of it is used for producing accessories.

Oxygen Index of PVC is 45 – 49, it means it needs nearly 50% oxygen to continuously burn. Atomosphere contains only around 21% Oxygen. Calcium Carbonate and Chlorine in PVC prevent it from burning and make it self extinguishing.
